Before comparing prices, copy the full tyre code approved for your vehicle. A product with the right rim diameter can still have the wrong profile or load rating. Use 205/55 R16 91V as an example of what to check.
Read the size from left to right
- 205 is nominal width in millimetres.
- 55 is sidewall height as a percentage of that width.
- R means radial construction.
- 16 is rim diameter in inches.
The European Commission's tyre guide explains these parameters. For example, 205/55 R16 and 205/60 R16 have different profiles; do not treat them as the same size.
Check the two ratings after the size
91 is the load index, equal to 615 kg per tyre in the Commission's table. V is the speed rating, with a table value of 240 km/h. It describes a technical limit, not a speed recommendation. Match the ratings required for your vehicle; winter-tyre exceptions to speed ratings depend on national rules.
Avoid three ordering mistakes
- Do not copy a code from a different trim or engine version without checking your vehicle's approved sizes.
- Do not change the profile just because the rim diameter matches.
- Do not assume a lower load or speed rating is acceptable.
Check the handbook or manufacturer data. If more than one tyre-and-rim combination is approved, choose one complete combination. Then search Koleso.ee tyres by size and compare the full code in each product listing. For winter tyres, also check the winter markings.
